Single mom of two children
Before receiving help from Family Promise of the South Bay, I was lost on where to start and how to make good choices for my two young children and me. This was my first time being housed in my own apartment with my two children after being homeless for a few years. My ICMS case worker, Daniela Navarro, really helped guide me through the uncertainty—from finding resources for my children to showing me where to start, as I had no knowledge at first. She showed me how to apply or start things, like attending meetings and speaking with housing workers if needed. She also sent me information on family food and clothing resources, even fun activities that helped my kids and me get closer as a family. These activities also gave my children opportunities to interact with other children and draw closer to our community in a positive way.
This program has helped in many more ways than what I have mentioned. I am very thankful and happy that I found this program and was accepted into it. I wish there were more programs available to the community like this one. This program is incredibly important for people who need help being self-sufficient in their first time having housing.
